Wapakoneta Loaves and Fishes began with a vision – one person’s belief that what we do matters. In December 1999, Vena Ryane had a desire to use her former restaurant, the Wapak Country Restaurant for a soup kitchen ministry. A committee was formed, and began meeting in February 2000. Volunteers and committee members refurbished the restaurant, and in July 2000, an open house was held. They served 30+ people on that evening.<\/p>\r\n
Today we are serving an average of 280 meals per week. Wapakoneta Loaves and Fishes is now officially a 501(c)(3) tax exempt entity, and we are registered as a non-profit with the Ohio Attorney General’s Office. Our mission remains the same as it was in 1999.<\/p>\r\n
We thank the committee, the churches, and the local organizations and businesses for their support of our Christian ministry of feeding God’s people since 1999.<\/p>\r\n
